Type of paper

Negative Paper

A Paper normally used instead of photographic films or plates for making negatives from which reproductions are made. It is a cotton fibre content paper manufactured from high quality white cotton cuttings, heavier weights may be made for original or permanent use in (brown) prints not for reproduction purposes. The paper has a very hard surface, a smooth finish, good formation, and relatively low opacity. It is glue sized to contribute to its wet tensile strength and to minimise penetration of the photographic emulsion with which it is coated.
