Type of paper

A lightweight absorbent paper usually made from bleached manila hemp and long-fibred chemical pulp and specially treated to give a high wet strength. Its chief characteristics are cleanliness good absorbency, high wet strength, a sheet structure to permit rapid diffusion of the tea extract, and ability to perform satisfactorily in high-speed packaging equipment with which the tea bags are fabricated and filled.
