PAPER TRADE CUSTOMS OF INDIAN TRADE EFFECTIVE FROM 1992

MARKING

The outside wrapper of each ream shall be marked with nominal weight, number of sheets, size in centimetres, substance, grain direction, lot number and date of manufacture, variety/nomenclature and grade and the name of the paper mill.

The label should also carry any other marking as required under the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1976 and the Standards of Weights and Measures (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 1977.

Reams : Papers & Boards as detailed in item 1 (A), (B), (C) & (D).

A ream shall consist of 500 sheets only and packing could be 1/10th, 1/5th, 2/5th, 3/5th, 4/5th and half ream of the same. The reams should be so packed in bundles that the weight of each bundle should not exceed 60/65 kg. Weight of each package should be in the region of 20 kg.
